Deep Tissue Massage at WitsendHealth
Deep tissue massage is a technique which uses firm pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle tissue, tendons and the surrounding connective tissues (also known as fascia).
Deep tissue massage therapy is often used as a treatment to break up scar tissue, and break down muscle knots & adhesions.
A more specialised and focused treatment, our deep tissue massage techniques will release and reduce musculoskeletal pain and tension, and are particularly effective in helping with general back, neck, shoulder and leg pain.
Excellent for reducing stress, raising energy levels and helping posture.
This is our most popular treatment, especially with customers who have previous experience of massage.
Deep tissue is a type of massage therapy that is used to treat chronic tension and injuries from overuse, such as tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome. Whilst some of the strokes are the same as in classic (Swedish) massage, the pace tends to be slower and pressure is applied more strongly, concentrated on problem areas. Practitioners may use their forearms, elbows, fingertips and knuckles as well as their hands in order to break-up adhesions. These bands of rigid tissue can cause pain and inflammation, and restrict movement and circulation in muscle tissue.
